Supervisor of Security - Full Time - Day

With a culture rooted in connection and collaboration, the Supervisor of Security oversees and manages security personnel, ensuring the safety of medical center personnel, patients, and visitors. This role assumes primary responsibility for administrative functions within the department, including management of the security incident and activity tracking program, basic budgetary responsibility (salary and operational), and revenue stream management. The Supervisor also handles operational management for shifts and provides overall primary supervision for security department personnel.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates officers' performance, provides guidance and counseling to improve performance, and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
- Exercises authority over all security operations.
- Responsible for the staffing and scheduling of security personnel.
- Communicates directives as issued by the Network VP of Security.
- Ensures that all security officers are properly attired and perform their duties as outlined in the Departmental Policy Manual.
- Performs Executive details, deliveries, and special events.
- Manages the programming and facilitating of Parking Office authority for restricted and high-risk areas.
- Reviews daily activity logs and submits all computer-based reports at the end of the shift.
- Reviews and corrects Security Incident Reports in a timely manner.
- Investigates and works with Risk Management to handle theft, property damage, lost and found belongings, injuries, and documents all security incidents occurring on the shift.
- Responds to calls and codes for security and ensures that security personnel carry out their specific duties and responsibilities.
- Investigates all incidents of stolen property occurring on facility property during the shift; takes action to locate and completes/submits all reports through proper channels.
- Handles disorderly and/or abusive patients and visitors, including psychiatric patients and those brought into the Emergency Trauma Department under arrest.
- Enforces all facility regulations.
- Represents the Security Department at monthly Safety, MACH/Disaster/ETD, and Environment of Care meetings.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Minimum of 3 years of hospital security or law enforcement experience.
- Documented security supervisory training.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License from a USA state (Required).
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor Certification (Preferred).
- CPR/First Aid Instructor (Preferred).
Pay
Minimum starting rate of $61,110.40 annually. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget, and grant funding. Some roles may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, commissions, or shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend shifts.
