SUPERVISOR OF ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs (SCEP), the Supervisor of Academic Instruction (SAI) — working under the title of Assistant Principal (AP) — assists in planning, developing, and implementing educational programs. Responsibilities include on-site monitoring and evaluation of education programs, reviewing educational processes, and recommending teaching resources and instructional methods. The AP also supports education teacher hiring, staff development, and program implementation, while collaborating with educational and custodial staff to resolve programming issues and identify best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, and implementing correctional education programs.
• Monitor and evaluate on-site education programs.
• Review educational processes and recommend instructional methods and resources.
• Support hiring, staff development, and implementation of education programs.
• Collaborate with educational and custodial staff to resolve programming issues and identify exemplary procedures.

Requirements

• Provide a copy of a valid teaching credential authorizing full-time instruction in the appropriate subject specialty.
• Meet the Minimum Requirements outlined in the Class Specification (see Duty Statement for details).
• Complete educational courses specified in the Class Specification.
• Submit unofficial transcripts/diploma if meeting Minimum Qualifications with education (official transcripts may be required upon appointment).
• Pass a background investigation, including Live Scan fingerprinting and Tuberculosis testing (annual testing required thereafter).
• Compliance with Public Health Orders regarding COVID-19 vaccination and booster (reasonable medical or religious accommodations may apply).
• Foreign-educated applicants must submit a U.S. course/degree equivalency verification from a NACES-accredited service.

Pay

$10,261.00 - $13,489.00 per month. New state employees are hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, if applicable.
