SUPERVISOR OF ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
About the role
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs (SCEP), the Supervisor of Academic Instruction (SAI) assists in the planning, development and implementation of programs; on-site monitoring and evaluation of Academic Curriculum; and reviews educational processes, making recommendations on teaching materials and instructional methods. The SAI also assists with Academic Teacher hiring, staff development, and program implementation, and collaborates with educational and custodial staff to identify effective solutions to educational problems and exemplary educational procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates who do not meet the Minimum Qualifications will be withheld from the eligibility list and rendered inactive and ineligible for hire. Applicants who completed their education outside of the U.S. must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency through a NACES member credential evaluation service.
Special Requirements
- Do not include confidential information such as Social Security Number, birthdate, student identification number, driver’s license number (unless required), basis of eligibility, examination results, LEAP status, marital status, or age on any submitted documents.
- Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS must undergo a background investigation via Live Scan Fingerprinting and a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by annual TB testing thereafter.
- CDCR/CCHCS utilizes E-Verify to confirm identity and employment authorization.
Who May Apply
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility may apply. SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; others may be considered if no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered.
