Supervisor - Milling and Drill Cell

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Recommends proper staffing levels based on production needs for area of responsibility
• Makes sure daily production schedules are met and reports status
• Gives input for introducing new products and processes into the plant
• Ensures operator rotation program is functioning
• Recognizes and resolves process problems regularly
• Affirms proper maintenance of equipment and tooling
• Maintains employee performance through goal setting
• Manages attendance and time clock
• Communicates production status, backorders, quality, safety, and other issues between shifts and crews
• Maintains daily housekeeping and organization standards
• Hires, discharges, and counsels employees with HR assistance
• Enforces LEAN initiatives and fosters a culture of accountability
• Provides employees with development and training opportunities
• Executes corrective actions to reduce or eliminate scrap
• Performs safety training for direct reports and monitors for potential hazards
• Ensures compliance with policies and procedures
• Stays updated with ISO/FDA and internal quality assurance policies

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 5 years of manufacturing experience required, preferably in a machining environment OR 3 years of progressive manufacturing experience AND a bachelor’s degree
• 3 years of leadership experience required within a machining environment, five or more preferred
• Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment desirable
• Experience in medical devices or another highly regulated industry preferred
• Proficiency with standard MS Office desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training

• Demonstrated process improvement skills
• The ability to prioritize, work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and work under time constraints
• Able to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, using spoken and written English
• Must have leadership skills and be able to effectively supervise and motivate team members
• Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and / or schedule form

Physical Demands

• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 30 pounds
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
• Noisy environment
