Manufacturing Cell Supervisor
About the role
The Manufacturing Cell Supervisor manages all aspects of cell operations, applying world-class manufacturing techniques to enhance processes, quality, service, products, and the environment. Based in Anoka, this role oversees industrial manufacturing indirect departments including Maintenance, Quality, Dock, Recycling, Calibration, and CMM Programming. It involves leading and supervising 6-8 employees at the French Lake site.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and implement continuous quality and cost improvements related to cell operations.
- Set and communicate expectations for employees; monitor performance and provide recognition.
- Take corrective action when necessary.
- Recognize employees for performance meeting or exceeding objectives.
- Utilize quality management techniques for problem-solving, corrective actions, and process decisions.
- Establish budget and annual plan for cell operations, monitor performance against plan, and take corrective action.
- Develop, implement, and support systems for cost reductions, quality improvements, productivity increases, inventory reductions, and service improvements.
- Assemble to Order, Build to Order, Line Stock, Kanban, New Technology, Automated Assembly, Set-Up Reductions, etc.
- Plan and manage production, capacity, inventories, and purchases.
- Research, justify, procure, and implement new technology to maximize cell profitability.
- Work with suppliers to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met.
- Identify process and component changes to improve product value and performance.
- Manage preproduction projects.
- Develop and implement training requirements and cross-train multi-functional employees.
- Manage staff and resources to achieve cell objectives.
- Understand and implement Graco QMS.
- Spend a minimum of 20% time on the factory floor.
- Ensure compliance to all company policies and practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 6 to 8 years manufacturing experience
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience
- Knowledge or experience with manufacturing information systems (forecasting, MRP, SPC, labor, costing)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good coaching, facilitating, and counseling capabilities
- Strong leadership qualities
- Accelerator MBA/Engineering Degree preferred
- Machinist/assembly experience preferred
- Experience with Just-In-Time principles and implementation preferred
- Past budgeting/accounting experience, preferably ownership of own budget preferred
- Purchasing experience, contact with outside vendors preferred
- Understanding of SPC and Total Quality concepts preferred
- Experience supervising manufacturing employees preferred
- Maintenance supervision and/or quality experience required
