About the role
The Manufacturing Supervisor leads all aspects of work performed by manufacturing operators, including weigh/dispense, powder blending, tea blending, agglomeration, layering, and solution preparation. This role ensures work is scheduled and performed in a safety and quality-conscious environment while maintaining efficiency standards. The Supervisor supervises staffing requirements, advises management of changing needs, and is responsible for meeting packaging objectives and adhering to company and regulatory procedures.
Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and direct manufacturing personnel to achieve short- and long-term departmental objectives.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of powder and/or tea blending processes, including weigh/dispense, powder blending, agglomeration, layering, and solution preparation.
- Problem-solve and troubleshoot production issues, recommending solutions to maximize yields and efficiencies.
- Ensure staff is properly trained and proficient in all technical aspects of their positions.
- Actively promote and maintain a safe work environment.
- Establish staffing guidelines and distribute workload to deliver maximum results.
- Maintain two-way communication with direct reports on work and results.
- Communicate company and departmental goals and objectives to ensure clear understanding by the shift.
- Complete and maintain all necessary documentation, including current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) documents.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality Control, and other departments to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Quality, and cGMP Standards.
- Administer company policies regarding attendance, conduct, performance, quality, safety, and teamwork.
- Interact daily with Quality and Planning to meet or exceed production schedules.
- Work closely with Process Engineering to improve line efficiencies and processing time.
- Responsible for personnel development, including instructing, training, motivating, and assisting employees to achieve company and departmental objectives.
- Accountable for department results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years of supervisory experience in a production environment.
- 2 years of work experience in an FDA/GMP regulated production operation.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate optimally in verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
