Supervisor, Maintenance

About the role
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor directs the execution of all asset maintenance activities, including preventative, predictive, and reactive/corrective maintenance tasks, to meet plant production targets and reliability strategies. This role involves daily interaction with multiple departments, including operations, maintenance craft workers, reliability and process specialists, as well as coordination with external contractors and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all maintenance activities are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to INEOS 20 Safety Principles, Life Saving Rules, and site policies.
- Ensure compliance with site environmental requirements, including reporting and LDAR repair timing.
- Manage asset compliance with process safety and personnel safety inspections and testing (e.g., precision instrument calibrations, turbine overspeed, relief valve testing).
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership through field observations, audits, and near-miss reporting.
- Adhere to the site’s SHE incident management system, including incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking.
- Plan work with a clear understanding of hazards and communicate them effectively to execution teams.
- Initiate proper safety reviews (e.g., temporary job plans, confined space, hot work) when reviewing work scope.
- Participate in the development of maintenance procedures and training materials.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Environmental efforts, including Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Management of Change (MOC), risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Conduct routine AsCare tours and participate in audits.
- Ensure alignment and clarity of roles, including performance expectations for Maintenance Technicians and contractors.
- Determine developmental needs of team members and execute training plans.
- Maintain compliance with routine safety training requirements.
- Implement a performance management process, including informal coaching and formal performance reviews.
- Ensure adherence to Human Resources policies and legal requirements for employees and contractors.
- Oversee time entry and approval for payroll processing.
- Share and implement best practices across assets.
- Drive ownership of asset equipment and maintenance strategies among employees.
- Serve as the primary contact for execution forces and outside vendors to maintain clear communication on ongoing and pending work.
- Optimize and ensure adherence to the maintenance workflow process.
- Communicate scheduled work to Operations and follow up on equipment preparation.
- Ensure prioritization of work aligns with business needs and proactively communicate schedule changes.
- Collaborate with the SHE group to address environmental requirements in work scope.
- Ensure maintenance activities are cost-justified, environmentally compliant, and result in reliable equipment operation.
- Work with Procurement to procure and expedite materials and services, making cost-effective decisions.
- Drive maintenance cost improvements in alignment with department management.
- Manage SAP entries for maintenance-driven Service Purchase Orders and resolve blocked invoices.
- Monitor project progress to ensure proper installation and parameter settings for equipment.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of maintenance or operations experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
- Supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership competencies; prior supervisory experience required if less than 5 years of plant operations experience within the company.
- Minimum 18 years of age with a High School diploma or GED.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident).
Skills
- Significant experience supporting asset operations.
- Working knowledge of maintenance activities for fixed and rotating equipment.
- Expertise in the maintenance workflow process.
- Strong knowledge of site operating standards/procedures and relevant HSE legislation.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with all organizational levels.
- Strong SAP experience in Plant Maintenance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Ability to maintain knowledge of assets as new technology is implemented.

- Required to wear a respirator and don a gas mask.
