Maintains acceptable standards
- Maintains acceptable standards in the areas of: attendance, customer service, professionalism and establishing harmonious working relationships.
Supervisory Functions
- Prepares work schedules, assigns staff, observes and reviews performance to provide input to formal evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Aids in staff selection and provides orientation, training and ongoing in-services for staff.
Schedules and Supervises
- Schedules and supervises Laundry functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.
- Ensures all jobs are filled properly and linens moved smoothly.
- Maintains required records, reports, and statistics as directed.
- Inputs all daily deliveries into computer for monthly reports.
- Provides information on linen ordering requirements.
- Responds to all deliveries that are considered to be “STAT”.
- Ensures delivery of all linen in a timely manner to departments.
- Makes recommendations concerning repairs, linen replacement, cleaning, improved sanitation and other means of creating efficiencies.
- Checks that all chemical dispensers are working properly on a daily basis.
Other Duties
- Demonstrates and upholds established standards of behavior, safety, and confidentiality, as well as TMCH and department policies and standards.
- Works collaboratively and supports efforts of other team members.
- Maintains log for all unusable linen that is taken from service.
- Loads and unloads all linen from dryer using proper settings for drying of linen, as to type of linen.
- Demonstrates understanding of all surgery requirements on special folding.
- Communicates with all units in regard to telephone orders.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and reports to Manager any possible compliance issues.
- Attends annual compliance training.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of laundry operations and safety practices.
- Skills in training and leading staff.
- Ability to read or listen and comprehend simple instructions spoken in the English language, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
- Ability to read a clock and accurately document time.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
