About the Role

The Lab Quality Supervisor oversees the Quality Management Services and Phlebotomy area of the lab, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. This role involves generating statistical administrative reports, managing quality assurance programs, and supporting accreditation and certification initiatives. The position assists the Lab Supervisor and Lab Director in administering laboratory quality operations and collaborates with hospital-wide quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the laboratory quality assurance (QA) program.
• Maintain laboratory activities to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards and all regulatory requirements.
• Maintain current QA and phlebotomy policies and procedures, reviewed initially and annually by the Medical Director.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports to inform management of program status, services, and quality initiatives.
• Participate in educational programs to maintain subject matter expertise and expand management skills.
• Encourage high-performance standards and recognize excellence to positively influence employee motivation.
• Support and assist in the development and maintenance of the Laboratory Information System.
• Perform duties of a technologist as needed due to absence or peak workload.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information in accordance with HIPAA and company policy.
• Adapt assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities.
• Utilize assistive devices for lifting as mandated.
• Comply with all safety and health standards, rules, regulations, and orders applicable to the position.
• Adhere to and promote safety protocols at all times, including respirator and fit testing for exposure risks.
• Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
• Meet and maintain all required conditions of employment, including vaccinations per DRH policy.
• Perform additional duties as required or delegated.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution. Advanced degree desirable.
• At least five (5) years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the appropriate technical discipline(s).
• Two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Current medical laboratory scientist certification (ASCP or equivalent). Specialty certification in the appropriate discipline desirable.
• Fluency in oral and written English; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with email, word processing, and spreadsheets. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills preferred.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, adapt to urgent situations, and remain flexible.
• Self-directed with the ability to multi-task effectively and adapt procedures, processes, tools, and techniques as needed.
• A current valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Additional Information

This is a safety-sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma law. Applicants cannot test positive for Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in pre-employment or any subsequent drug tests, even with a valid medical marijuana card. Respirator and fit testing are required for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals. Vaccinations are required per DRH policy, with medical and religious exemptions available upon request.
