About the Role
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 1, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.
Under the general direction of the Chief of Mental Health, the Supervisor I performs complex and sensitive work in the development, implementation, ongoing operations, and management of the Special Programs and Contract Unit. This role involves:
- Direct supervision of assigned staff, coordinating management of assignments, and developing and monitoring work plans.
- Identifying and developing institutional and community-based programs specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed services, such as substance use disorder treatment, education, employment, and community reintegration programming to reduce recidivism.
- Providing contractual oversight for multiple contract providers delivering services to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation incarcerated and parolee population.
The position is eligible for hybrid telework in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and may require reporting to the office as needed. The successful candidate must reside in California upon starting a telework arrangement.
Requirements
- Four years of work experience performing analytical, technical, clerical, or customer service duties. Academic education from an accredited college/university may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- An additional two years of professional analytical and/or technical experience, one year of which must be equivalent to an Analyst II or higher.
Candidates within six months of satisfying the minimum qualifications will be admitted to the examination but must fully meet the requirements before being eligible for appointment. To obtain list eligibility for the Supervisor I position, you must first take and pass the Supervisor I examination.
