About the role
The Supervisor, Histology is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Histology department, ensuring that specimens are processed efficiently and accurately, and meeting production throughput and quality requirements. This role also involves interacting with Pathology to ensure timely specimen delivery and maintaining quality control.
Responsibilities
- Resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain stringent quality standards and identify issues impacting test results and employee safety.
- Ensure proper functioning of processing systems and timely sample processing.
- Monitor and improve quality control testing results.
- Manage and supervise Histology laboratory personnel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address process and workflow issues.
- Support management in project management, resource management, and staff development.
- Communicate goals and priorities clearly to employees.
- Coach and motivate staff to achieve their best work.
- Conduct performance assessments and training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies.
- Participate in quality assurance activities.
- Perform daily laboratory processing tasks.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a scientific field, 6+ years of laboratory experience, detailed knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and NY regulations, and strong computer skills. Preferred qualifications include experience in high-volume clinical or surgical pathology laboratories, proficiency with LIMS systems, and HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP) certification.

Pay
The annual base salary ranges from $69,000.00 to $122,000.00, with the possibility of bonuses.
Schedule
Flexible schedule, typically Friday - Monday 8:00am - 6:30pm or 9:00am - 7:30pm.
