Supervisor, Flightline

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Supervisor, Flightline to oversee the Flightline team in Columbus, MS. This role involves supervising Part 21 and Part 145 aircraft operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and meeting production goals.

About the role

You will supervise the Flightline teams responsible for H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160 aircraft under Part 21 and Part 145 regulations. The role involves planning, executing, and accomplishing flight test schedules and goals for repair station and production aircraft, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of 15-20 flight test technicians to meet delivery schedules and execute over 300 production work orders for multiple Airbus Helicopters airframes (H145, H125, H130, H135, H160).
• Adjust manpower and collaborate with other departments to support flight test and conformity of aircraft.
• Ensure Leads/Technicians have the tools, data, and support required to perform their functions in accordance with published schedules.
• Maintain compliance with FAA repair station, FOP/GOP, ISO, OSHA, and other regulations by spot-checking aircraft, workbooks, and quality gates.
• Review training requirements and records to ensure employees are qualified and up to date; develop and schedule training sessions as needed.
• Organize weekly team meetings to communicate customer and management needs.
• Assist in troubleshooting problems and coordinate with engineering and QA to recommend resolution plans.
• Conduct periodic performance evaluations and assist in hiring, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure completeness of all work performed by flight test technicians on Part 21 and Part 145 aircraft.
• Maintain close working relationships with supporting departments regarding schedules, priorities, parts, documentation, and tools.
• Redirect manpower and flight test requirements to accommodate changes in work scope as requested by Program Management.
• Coordinate offsite activities such as deliveries and maintenance with Programs and QA.
• Research and report tooling purchases and supplies needed to support flightline activities.
• Maintain aircraft status reports for all Part 21 and Part 145 aircraft, including customer incoming, flight test, and delivery scenarios.
• Provide manpower quotes and follow-up reports to Management and Programs teams.
• Report daily status to management and flightline support staff.
• Report all employee health and aircraft-related incidents to Safety in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; preferred degree in Aviation Maintenance Management.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of related rotary wing technical experience.
• Experience resolving technical issues and thorough knowledge of A&P procedures and repair station procedures.
• Proficiency in FAA and FAR regulations, as well as state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
• Working knowledge of Garmin, Microvibe, Helionix, and Vision1000 systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with maintenance and principles of operation for H125, H130, H135, H145, and H160 airframes (preferred).
• A&P Rating; must be willing to use A&P license outside of the repair station.
• I/A Rating (preferred).
• OEM training/certification on listed airframes (preferred).
• Minimum five (5) years of component installation and troubleshooting experience.
• Strong leadership skills; 5 years of flight test experience (preferred).
• 3 years of Airbus experience (preferred).
• 10% domestic and international travel required.
• Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder, or covered under existing ITAR license).

• 90% onsite work.
• Able to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
• Able to hear conversations, teleconferences, and production floor sounds, including safety warnings.
• Able to speak in conversations, meetings, and communications.
• Able to operate office equipment (computers, phones, copiers) and production tools (e.g., hydraulic lifts).
• Able to carry, lift, push, pull, and move items up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Able to sit for long periods, stand, walk, squat, kneel, and travel independently at short notice.
• Required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and protective gloves.
