Supervisor, Final Mile Seattle, Washington
Position Overview
The Supervisor, Final Mile is a frontline operations leader responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of local delivery operations, driver teams, routing, customer service, and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time, on-site role that serves as the primary operational leader in the local market, supporting the Market Manager with recruiting, compliance, training, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Driver Management & Direct Supervision
- Provide direct, daily supervision of final mile delivery drivers and independent contractors
- Conduct pre-shift meetings, safety briefings, and route reviews to prepare drivers for the day
- Monitor driver performance, punctuality, and adherence to company standards and procedures
- Serve as the first point of escalation for driver issues, concerns, or disputes
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the driver team
Routing & Fulfillment Operations
- Oversee daily route planning and dispatch using internal tools, ensuring on-time delivery performance
- Assign and verify fulfillment partners and drivers for scheduled deliveries and pickups
- Maintain accurate delivery data capture, including job completion, proof of delivery, and revenue confirmation
Customer Service
- Serve as a local point of contact for customer inquiries, escalations, and service recovery
- Respond to and resolve delivery complaints, reschedule requests, and job site readiness confirmations
- Proactively communicate delivery status updates to customers and internal stakeholders
- Partner with the corporate customer service team to address systemic issues and implement local solutions
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all drivers and fulfillment partners comply with DOT regulations, insurance requirements, and company policies
- Conduct regular audits of driver credentials, vehicle inspections, and compliance documentation
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near-misses in a timely and thorough manner
- Champion a safety-first culture across all local operations
- Monitor and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and report on local market KPIs, including on-time delivery, cost per stop, and driver utilization
- Conduct root cause analyses for delivery exceptions, customer complaints, and failed deliveries
- Produce accurate operational reports and data extracts for Market Manager and leadership review
- Recommend process improvements and technology enhancements to improve local market performance
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team, department, or organizational needs
- Collaborate with corporate operations teams on cross-market initiatives and best practices
- Assist with special projects, audits, or initiatives as directed by the Market Manager or Sr. Leadership
- Fill operational gaps as needed to ensure continuity of service during high-demand or short-staffed periods
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or final mile operations
Prior supervisory or lead experience in a delivery, dispatch, or warehouse environment
Strong knowledge of DOT compliance, driver management, and transportation regulations
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with routing software, TMS, or OMS platforms a plus
Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem resolution
Must be able to work on-site daily, including potential early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required by operational needs
Bilingual language skills are a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supervising independent contractors or 3PL driver networks
Familiarity with final mile delivery technology platforms and proof-of-delivery tools
Prior recruiting, onboarding, or training experience in a logistics environment
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and transportation compliance requirements
Experience in a multi-market or regional operations role
Physical/Mental Demands
Physical requirements include the ability to sit and stand for several hours at a time, walk, reach, bend, stoop, stretch, lift, push, transport, and move up to 50 pounds
Work may include time spent in warehouse, loading dock, or field environments in varying weather conditions
Manual dexterity and visual acuity are needed to operate normal office equipment, such as a computer, telephone, and copier
Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Environmental/Working Conditions
This role is on-site at a local market/delivery operation and requires daily in-person presence
Work environment may include indoor office settings as well as warehouse, loading dock, or field locations
Frequent interaction with drivers, customers, vendors, and management
Some weekend, early morning, and evening hours will be required based on operational needs
