About the role

The Supervisor, Field Engineering Design (Yarmouth) role will lead, direct, and assist with organizing and prioritizing work group activities, assigning and scheduling work duties to meet required completion dates. The role involves working with other departments on cross-functional technical and business teams, working groups or committees to achieve goals and objectives of the department and company.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve work for internal/external customer requests, maintenance, annual and project work.
  • Directly supervise, coach, mentor, and provide technical support to assigned staff in support of producing high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions to technical and business objectives.
  • Ensure designs are safe and environmentally responsible, empowering teams to take responsibility for themselves, customers and assets.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to ensure consistency and teamwork.
  • Assist with evaluation and development of new technology, equipment, systems, tools, standards and procedures.
  • Support regulatory commitments involving local towns, state and federal regulatory agencies in accordance with current Eversource policies.
  • Respond to requests for engineering / technical assistance on Power Quality, Root Cause Analysis, Financial Planning, Project Management/Development and other departments.
  • Coordinate Damage Assessment, System Modeling or other assignments as required in support of storm events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of related technical experience, preferably in electric distribution.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills by achieving positive results under non-ideal circumstances.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry codes and standards related to the electric utility industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related technical experience required. A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university accredited by ABET preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of distribution standards, policies, regulations, engineering specifications, applicable codes, union contracts, Information and Requirements book, procedures and practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of department programs, policies, procedures and business plans.
  • Sound judgment, technical insight, and strong initiative to direct others on resolution of complex issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications

  • Thorough knowledge of distribution standards, policies, regulations, engineering specifications, applicable codes, union contracts, Information and Requirements book, procedures and practices.
  • Provides supervision within the provisions of the agreement between the Company and the local bargaining unit(s).
  • Applies knowledge and skill to solve problems and respond promptly, appropriately and constructively to employees.
  • Must have or develop a thorough knowledge of Company organization, distribution standards, policies, practices and procedures is required.
  • Proficient in office computer software such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Must have or develop a thorough knowledge of company software such as Maximo, DARS, Outage Management System, Outage Management Assessment (OMA), Workday, Workforce, Power Plan, Power Bi, etc..
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and AI related tools.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code and interconnection elements of National Electrical Code.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of department programs, policies, procedures and business plans.

Compensation and Benefits

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with your experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range for this position is $129,660.00-$144,070.00.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts and companies within and outside the state.
  • Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
