About the role
Supervise and provide guidance related to the design, capital work order creation, cost estimation, construction, and as-built review process of both simple and complex growth engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and perform engineering activities related to design of company pipeline, including transmission and/or distribution pipeline systems, appurtenances, and measurement and regulation facilities.
- Utilize, evaluate, incorporate, and train employees on complex engineering design and drafting using engineering records, third-party civil site plans, utility infrastructure data, traffic control plans, governmental engineering plans, GIS data, highway/railroad crossing permits, right-of-way drawings, survey information, architectural/mechanical drawings, and environmental impacts and permits.
- Oversee the review of project designs to ensure constructibility and adherence with company procedures. Review cost estimates and work orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise complex projects, planning and scoping for annual work plans (AWP) and future project planning based on risk and/or capacity assessments. Guide feasible alternatives, operations support, Engineer of the Week (EOTW), and additional duties (e.g., Traceable, Verifiable and Complete (TVC), Encroachments).
- Collaborate, communicate, and steer processes with team members, clients, developers, other workgroups, and stakeholders—including outside entities and agencies—to support budgets, timelines, and improve customer experience.
- Ensure customer timelines, system requirements, and internal completion dates associated with capital projects are met.
- Review as-built completion reports and implement lessons learned.
- Assign and supervise the workload of employees. Develop and supervise employee performance to improve engagement, performance, and retention.
- Contribute to the development of the annual work plan by identifying appropriate projects.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required. May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline required.
- Two or more years of experience in pipeline design, drafting, project management, and project estimations.
- Experience with gas design standards and related governmental regulations.
- Hands-on experience with office equipment and software such as GIS, AutoCAD, Synergi, Excel, Technical Toolbox, Copperleaf C55, Maximo, and Solidworks.
- Depth of experience applying math and geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric formulas.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and develop talent. Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
- Thorough experience reviewing and interpreting technical manuals, job orders, construction drawings, completion reports, governmental regulations, atlas sheets, maps, policies, and procedures.
- Thorough experience identifying, researching, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems or specific situations and coordinating appropriate action/response.
- Experience interacting, negotiating, advising, and communicating effectively.
Licenses and Certifications
- Applicable driver’s license. Requires travel to other company offices, facilities, and job sites.
- Professional Engineer Certification (PE) or license is strongly preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Mobility to travel in and around plant, office facilities, and outdoor job sites.
- Able to communicate and exchange information, including conducting oral presentations.
- Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
