Supervisor, Distribution Center

Supervises staff at the Indianapolis Distribution Center, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective receiving and shipping of finished goods. Coordinates supply chain activities with Manufacturing, Planning, and Sourcing groups to maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction. Maintains accurate record-keeping and data management systems, and serves as a liaison with transportation providers and internal and external customers. Actively engages on the distribution floor with day-to-day shipping activities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for receipt of finished goods and shipments to domestic customers and distributors.
• Coordinate activities and provide direction to employees in charge of daily operations.
• Develop and/or maintain material handling procedures and work instructions for the department.
• Ensure required daily production requirements are aligned with customer requirements.
• Maintain and supervise appropriate inventory record keeping.
• Provide input for warehouse design and logistics.
• Maintain a safe working environment by instructing employees on established safety practices and enforcing them at all times.
• Ensure emergency equipment, electrical panels, and exits are regularly monitored and free from obstructions.
• Responsible for proper operation of equipment, including training and instruction of operators on equipment use, and requisitioning needed maintenance.
• Ensure equipment is maintained in clean working order.
• Establish, maintain, and promote positive employee relations while ensuring productivity, attendance, and general order for efficient operation.
• Ensure daily cycle counts are taken and provide Senior Distribution Manager/Director with monthly reports on outcomes.
• Work with cross-functional groups to coordinate and manage traffic between warehouse points and customers optimally.
• In conjunction with STERIS Planning, ensure efficient traffic management and provide feedback to the Director regarding carrier performance.
• Coordinate and lead special projects affecting domestic warehouse operations.
• Maintain 5S/SQDC boards and implement Lean initiatives to improve productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma or GED and 5-10 years of warehouse experience are required.
• Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing, domestic transportation, and shipping/receiving.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to prioritize and delegate duties to meet business needs.
• Strong team orientation and ability to motivate teams to meet goals.
• Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using a WMS system or Oracle.
• Experience in an FDA-controlled facility.
• 2-3 years of Lean Warehousing experience.
• Handling, storing, and shipping hazardous materials.

Pay

Pay range for this opportunity is $68,637.50 - $88,825.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than the range listed. Pay rates are based on factors including local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.

Schedule

2nd shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
