About the role

As the Supervisor, Critical Operations you lead the tactical execution, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, FLS, plumbing/piping equipment, machinery, and controls throughout the data center. You coordinate and integrate all aspects of maintenance—preventive, corrective, and capital—while directly deploying the Critical Operations Team. You also assist customers on the data-center floor with installs, projects, and requests. This is a 7×24×365 on-site role with team-leadership responsibilities, including staffing, training, coaching, and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain facility policies, procedures, and organizational structure in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop emergency-response plans, manage incident response, and report on electrical, mechanical, controls, and plumbing systems.
  • Lead, organize, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup, and hot-water systems.
  • Oversee work orders for preventive and corrective maintenance on critical systems and the building’s physical structure.
  • Order and budget parts; supervise maintenance work to completion.
  • Facilitate data-center space and cable-plant design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all incidents and work orders are updated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Lead emergency response (fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and address customer concerns.
  • Review and provide input on operating-budget preparation and implementation.
  • Confer with subject-matter experts to resolve operational problems, develop procedures, and approve estimates.
  • Comply with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Supervise the team to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Provide updates and reporting to the Critical Operations Manager and Site Director; stand in for the manager as needed.
  • Supervise, train, develop, mentor, and coach Critical Operations Technicians; set performance goals and monitor progress.
  • Ensure all customer requests are completed and resolved promptly.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience.
  • Previous direct or indirect people-leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six or more years of workplace or relevant industry experience.
  • Previous people-leadership experience in a data-center environment.

  • Physical ability to type, stand, walk, push, pull, bend, reach, and lift 10–50 lbs regularly (heavier weights with assistance or aids).
