Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
- Collaborate with workers and managers to solve work-related problems.
- Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.
- Transmit and explain work orders to laborers.
- Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in work orders.
- Inform designated employees or departments of items loaded or problems encountered.
- Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
- Prepare and maintain work records and reports of information such as employee time and wages, daily receipts, or inspection results.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May supervise up to 10 employees.
Requirements
- Perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects; carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- See and hear well (naturally or with correction).
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, documents, instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Routine report writing.
- Effective communication skills vital.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma preferred.
- Two years related supervisory experience.
- CPR, First Aid and Confined Space Entry certifications.
