Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel to ensure proper staffing in order to select and receive products at the facility in a productive and cost-efficient manner.
  • Directs the day-to-day activities of the warehouse.
  • Such activities include shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, inventory control, etc.
  • Adheres to budget requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and branch goals.
  • Responsible for maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and all necessary repairs.
  • Ensures that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions.
  • Responsible for warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations.
  • Recommends equipment requirements and replacements in order to upgrade and maintain warehouse productivity and efficiency.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, performance management, and discipline of direct reports.
  • Timely reporting and compliance with deadlines
  • Researches, identifies, and presents new ideas to improve warehouse operations.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as needed/assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead warehouse personnel, including recruitment, training, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Provide coaching and support to ensure employees are motivated and productive.
  • Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures.

Educational background / Work experience

  • 2-3 years of experience in transportation and logistics management, with supervisory or managerial responsibilities is preferred.
  • High School Diploma required
  • Must have forklift experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of warehouse environment
  • Advanced competency in all aspects of business administration
  • People management and leadership experience (Recruitment, Selection, Training & Development, Coaching, and Performance Management)
  • Strategic Planning Skills
  • Strong Organizational Skills (prioritize, plan, assign, and control)
  • Ability to work well in a diverse environment and culture
  • Ability to develop networks and relationships
  • Work well in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment under pressure
