About the Role
Responsible for overseeing proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Develops, recommends, and implements accounting practices throughout Core & Main to ensure that financial and operating data accurately reflects the condition of the business or unit and provides reliable information necessary to control operations.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and coordinates activities of associates performing accounting and bookkeeping tasks.
- Plans and assigns work and schedules the daily workflow.
- Ensures that the assigned day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies, and objectives.
- Develops, recommends, and implements systems and procedural changes for the general accounting function.
- Develops and recommends improvements to expedite work and improve accuracy of accounting methods and procedures.
- Coordinates accounting matters with other departments, locations and divisions.
- Responds to requests, projects and inquiries from management by providing information, possible solutions and conducting research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
- Generally 5+ years experience in a related field.
- May require certification.
- Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
- CPA preferred.
- Supervisory experience.
- Inventory/Manufacturing Experience preferred.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Experience preferred.

Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area.
- Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- No travel required.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
- On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
