Accountabilities
- Oversight of the accounts payable lifecycle, including invoice processing, vendor payments, reconciliations, aging reviews, and month-end accrual activities.
- Leadership and development of the accounting team through goal setting, feedback provision, performance support, and daily operations management.
- Preparation and review of month-end reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reviews, investigation of discrepancies, and maintenance of reporting accuracy.
- Establishment and maintenance of strong internal controls focusing on fraud prevention, vendor payment security, duplicate payment prevention, and transaction compliance.
- Identification and implementation of opportunities for automation and workflow optimization through process improvements, technology solutions, AI-powered tools, and operational enhancements.
- Management of implementation and change management initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across accounting processes.
- Coordination of purchasing card and travel & expense programs, ensuring compliance, system configuration, and vendor coordination.
- Review and approval of invoices, ensuring proper coding, purchase order matching, and adherence to financial policies.
- Execution of vendor payments, including intercompany transactions, in partnership with treasury teams for timely and accurate payments.
- Support of vendor management activities, including onboarding, banking updates, payment terms, and issue resolution.
- Assistance with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and maintaining effective accounting controls.
- Partnership with finance leadership on shared services initiatives, strategic projects, and evolving business priorities.
Requirements
- Experienced accounting professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable managing complex financial processes, improving systems, and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of accounting experience, with demonstrated experience managing accounting operations.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
- Experience leading teams through coaching, development, and operational support.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, Pivot Tables, and financial analysis.
- Strong ability to prepare and review reconciliations, financial records, reports, and variance analyses.
- Experience improving accounting processes through automation, technology adoption, or workflow optimization.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a changing environment.
- Experience with accounting platforms such as NetSuite and procurement tools such as Zip is a plus.
