Job Summary

Responsible for the implementation and adherence to the Kinney Standard of Practice as it relates to the provision of the highest quality health care service to our customers. Responsible for the overall management of the Pharmacy Department.

Job Duties

  • Adheres to the Kinney Standard of Practice to dispense prescriptions and counsel patients
  • Performs all quality assurance steps to ensure a technically accurate prescription is dispensed
  • Reports dispensing incidents in a timely manner, in accordance with company guidelines
  • Adheres to all State and Federal guidelines governing the practice of Pharmacy
  • Manages and balances the pharmacy inventory to maximize turns while still remaining in-stock for customer needs
  • Oversees and processes the transmission, processing, and receiving of orders to and from the Kinney Warehouse and additional suppliers as needed
  • Checks pharmacy inventory for outdates and processes all returns
  • Maintains prescription files and other manual records in accordance with all state and federal guidelines
  • Ensures in-store pharmacy technology is being used to its fullest potential to ensure a maximum return on investment of the technology and life span
  • Ensures outstanding customer service is exhibited by all employees at all times
  • Follows all loss prevention policies and reports deviations from said policies to Loss Prevention
  • Affords assistance in the implementation of all corporate pharmacy marketing, advertising, and promotional programs
  • Oversees the maintenance of the pharmacy department to provide a clean, professional environment that protects customer and employee safety
  • Maintains and develops professional relationships with doctors and others in the health service professions
  • Maintains an awareness of developments in the Pharmacy and Health Care Services fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrates them into own practice
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all patient information
  • Facilitates communication between professional staff and pharmacy personnel
  • Affords assistance in the development of an annual pharmacy department operating budget and operates the pharmacy department within the budgetary guidelines
  • Affords assistance in the completion of hiring practices, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions of pharmacy department personnel
  • Assigns duties and assists in the scheduling of Pharmacy staff to ensure payroll and productivity budget guidelines are met
  • Affords assistance in the training and development of all pharmacy department personnel necessary to perform duties, including use of the Kinney Pharmacy Clerk and Technician Training Program
  • Affords assistance in the communication of corporate goals to all pharmacy department personnel
  • Attends and actively participates in all Kinney required training/management programs, as requested by Supervisor
  • Interfaces with various auditors and outside agencies, as needed
  • Oversight responsibilities to ensure store is compliant with all state and federal regulations and requirements
  • Completes all mandatory and regulatory training programs
