SUPERVISING INSURANCE EXAMINER
About the role
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) is seeking a dynamic Supervising Insurance Examiner who supervises, plans, directs and reviews the work of staff engaged in conducting financial examinations of insurance company operations.
Responsibilities
- Determines staff requirements and schedules for examinations assigned to the Bureau.
- Makes sure the conduct of examinations in progress is monitored to determine the insurers' financial condition, solvency, and legality and propriety of their operations.
- Supervises the training and evaluates the performance of examiners assigned to the Bureau.
- Implements department administrative manual policies, administers compliance with labor contracts, and ensures examiners assigned to the Bureau comply with policies and procedures.
- Reviews, edits, and files examination reports for companies assigned to Bureau.
- Ensures examiners assigned to the Bureau attain and maintain the professional designation of Certified Financial Examiner within the Society of Financial Examiners.
Requirements
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700), which includes an Assuming Office filing within 30 days of appointment, annual filings, and a Leaving Office filing within 30 days of physical separation.
