About the role

The Supervising Engineer is responsible for engineering activities in the design centers, including the direct supervision of electrical engineers, and the recruitment, training, development, and appraisal of engineering personnel. This role coordinates their work with the design center leadership team and other Ameren departments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure outstanding safety results by participating in design center safety activities, generating ideas for improved safety performance, and utilizing all proper personal protective equipment.
  • Provide assistance and technical support to engineers, Design Center Engineering Representatives, and Distribution Design Associates, Specialists, and Senior Specialists for the proper application of rates, rules/regulations, and policies, and project coordination from design to construction. This may include:
    • Analyzing customer requirements.
    • Specifying company facilities needed.
    • Assuring tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Provide support to Region supervising engineers and managers.
  • Provide direction on and identify project assignments, review accurate project estimates, and ensure all projects are engineered in accordance with Ameren Distribution Construction Standards.
  • Oversee Joint Use engineering PLAs and PCAs in support of construction, operations, and maintenance budget development.
  • Direct the identification and prioritization of O&M and capital expenditures in alignment with departmental budget requirements.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to Design Center and DDC Field Engineering. Monitor designs for reliability activities and design feasibility.
  • Identify and implement improvements in Design Center operations to control cost and improve quality and productivity.
  • Support Damage Assessment for the Design Centers during Region Restoration efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required (Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) preferred.
  • Seven or more years of engineering experience required.
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of construction standards, materials, operating policies, Standards & Qualifications, and computer applications (Microsoft Office, OAS, DOJM, DEW, etc.) utilized for distribution.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership behaviors with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly across multiple organizations.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and decisive in identifying improvement opportunities, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.

Schedule

  • Standard day shift, normally in an office environment.
  • May require on-site field job site visits to advise engineers or consultants on Ameren technical specifications for electric or gas system job development.
  • Includes overtime and 24-hour callouts during system disturbances to assist and direct emergency restoration.
  • Occasional travel and overnight accommodations may be required.

Pay

Compensation Range: $131,900.00 - $204,400.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. Additional rewards include annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
