Supervising Dentist

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical supervision for patient care at Carrington College Dental Hygiene Clinic.
• Manage medical history or dental emergencies related to patients, students, and faculty with assistance from the clinical instructor and/or Clinic Coordinator.
• Consult with students, clinical instructors, and the Clinic Coordinator regarding medical history, medication, and vital signs.
• Refer patients for medical/dental consultations as needed.
• Evaluate, interpret, and discuss radiographs with students, clinical instructors, and the patient.
• Evaluate and select appropriate patients for sealant application.
• Refers patients for comprehensive dental examinations or immediate referrals in case of emergencies.
• Provides treatment and assists with minor dental procedures as necessary, including:
• Placement of temporary filling material
• Re-cementation of crowns
• Adjustment of sealant material
• Tends to soft tissue injuries
• Evaluates NO2O and local anesthesia administration by students and documents logs.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD)
• State dentist license
• BLS for the Healthcare Provider (AHA or ARC)
• 2 years' clinical practice experience
• Teaching experience preferred
