About the role

The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is recruiting for a Supervising Clinician within the Access Center in Waterbury, CT. This role provides clinical and administrative leadership across Intake, Mobile Crisis, CIT, Jail Diversion, and CORP services, ensuring coordinated care, effective crisis response, and strong community partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical and administrative guidance across Intake, Mobile Crisis, CIT, Jail Diversion, and CORP services.
  • Guides daily operations, supports staff, and promotes recovery-oriented best practices throughout the Access Center.
  • Liaises with community partners, hospitals, courts, and internal programs.
  • Facilitates weekly staff meetings, recovery treatment planning, and daily rounds.
  • Evaluates and acts in crisis situations.
  • Participates in meetings and maintains accurate, up-to-date medical records.
  • May provide group treatment for the agency in IMR, IDDT Trauma, and other modalities.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of professional health care experience in a psychiatric setting.
  • Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at a lead level responsible for coordinating the work of a unit or team of professionals in a psychiatric setting.

Qualifications

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling the General Experience.

Considerable knowledge of relevant agency policies and procedures; mental health treatment, principles and values of community-based care; psychiatric rehabilitation principles; entitlement and benefit programs; variety of intervention and support strategies; knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations; interpersonal skills; oral and written communications skills; facilitation, collaboration and conflict resolution skills; supervisory ability.
