Job Requirements

The primary purpose of this position is to manage and deliver the Mobile Legal Clinic's community-based services as part of the Milwaukee Justice Center collaboration between Marquette Law School, the Milwaukee Bar Association, and the Milwaukee County Clerk of Courts. This position organizes and supervises pro bono work performed by law students and volunteer lawyers, ensuring legal services run efficiently and effectively. The role also develops systems that expand pro bono involvement and community access to legal help. Through administration, collaboration, on-site leadership, and the practice of law, the coordinator sustains high-quality legal service delivery.

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of Mobile Legal Clinic operations, administration, logistics, and scheduling, including planning, purchasing, reporting, data tracking, evaluation, on-site clinic oversight, volunteer support, stakeholder communication, and ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Practice law via the Mobile Legal Clinic.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Public Service and Milwaukee Justice Center teams, as well as other access-to-justice stakeholders, to develop program strategy and implementation.
  • Work with existing volunteer systems and develop new tools to support volunteers in delivering effective and efficient legal services.
  • Oversee communications about the Mobile Legal Clinics, including marketing clinic services to community members, maintaining relevant webpages, and representing the program at community events.
  • Support Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinics as needed, including assisting with clinic supervision and technology implementation.
  • Cookordinate maintenance and repairs of the Mobile Legal Clinic vehicle with the University facilities team. Drive the Mobile Legal Clinic vehicle as needed.
  • Responsible for the supervision of student employees, which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student’s assignment, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • JD Current, active Wisconsin law license.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement program goals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of groups, including organization leaders, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, and accomplish project needs collaboratively and with good judgment.
  • Experience in public interest and/or pro bono practice settings.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 1-3 years previous related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience, including volunteer legal experience, law student internship, or pro bono experience.
  • Some prior estate planning experience, or at least familiarity with Wisconsin statutory wills and powers of attorney documents.
  • Some prior experience or at least familiarity with adult guardianship forms.
