About the role
The Reliability Superintendent will utilize reliability principles and tools to evaluate maintenance strategies for pulp and paper mill assets. The candidate will work closely with site resources to review equipment failures, downtime reports, and equipment histories to uncover recurring maintenance problems. Evaluate, modify, and enhance maintenance practices, preventive maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PDM) effectiveness. Lead the application of effective predictive technologies and methods such as RCM and RCA within established safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement risk-based and reliability-centered maintenance strategies to support asset reliability.
- Lead site predictive and preventive maintenance programs (e.g., vibration analysis, lubrication programs, ultrasonic, and motor signature analysis programs).
- Demonstrate proficient use of a CMMS (SAP experience a plus).
- Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to solving problems.
- Build individual and team capabilities by developing training systems.
- Provide technical support in the form of strategic reliability practices such as failure analysis, suggested technical repair procedures, reliability improvements, PM/PDM optimization, etc.
- Develop, report, and maintain appropriate Maintenance and Reliability KPIs.
- Work and communicate effectively across all organizational levels as a team player.
- Listen, understand, and express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely through oral and written communication.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering or equivalent technical training and experience.
- 5+ years of experience employing Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods.
- Functional knowledge of primary predictive technologies such as Vibration, Infrared Thermography, Oil Analysis, Ultrasonic, and Electric Motor Diagnostic/Motor Current Analysis.
- Strong safety leadership.
