Responsibilities

  • Oversight of ground-up commercial construction projects from grubbing and site clearing through final completion and closeout.
  • Management and coordination of all subcontractor activities on site to ensure work progresses according to plan, quality standards, and schedule.
  • Enforcement of project standards, quality control measures, and safety protocols consistently across all phases of the project.
  • Production of thorough and accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Development, maintenance, and updating of four-week look-ahead schedules to plan work activities and anticipate resource needs.
  • Review and breakdown of look-ahead schedules with subcontractors weekly to align expectations and resolve potential conflicts.
  • Leadership of weekly subcontractor coordination meetings to review progress, address issues, and reinforce safety and quality requirements.
  • Effective communication and proactive interaction with project management and field leadership regarding progress, risks, and resource needs.
  • Collaboration with other superintendents on an ongoing basis to share best practices and continuously improve field operations.
  • Maintenance of momentum, decisiveness, and a solution-oriented mindset in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Application of standardized programs, checklists, and repeatable build processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
  • Support for tenant improvement and site construction activities as needed within the broader portfolio of work.

Essential Skills

  • 7–10+ years of superintendent experience on ground-up commercial construction projects.
  • Proven experience managing projects from initial site work through final closeout.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors on active construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, including development and maintenance of four-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Proficiency in field documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Experience with commercial ground-up construction, including retail and other commercial building types.
  • Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software.
  • Solid understanding of quality control processes in commercial construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Experience working for or with general contractors in a commercial construction setting.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with subcontractors, project managers, and field leadership.
  • Ability to operate effectively within standardized programs and repeatable build processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with retail, dental, medical, or small grocery ground-up projects is preferred.
  • Background in tenant improvement projects is beneficial.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is highly valued.
  • Experience in site construction and site development work is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with construction supervision and construction management best practices.
  • Proven ability to maintain strong subcontractor relationships and foster a collaborative jobsite culture.
  • Comfort working within a structured environment that emphasizes clear expectations, systems, and field controls.
  • Track record of maintaining quality control while meeting aggressive schedules.

Work Environment

  • The role is based in the field on ground-up commercial construction and tenant improvement projects.
  • Work takes place on active construction sites, including site clearing, site development, and building construction phases.
  • The superintendent works closely with subcontractors, project managers, and other superintendents in a collaborative environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • The company supports field operations with standardized programs, historical data, and proven systems designed to create clear expectations and enable consistent execution.
  • The culture encourages collaboration among superintendents and offers a strong, steady project backlog with potential for long-term continuity beyond initial assignments.
  • Procore and other construction management tools are used regularly to manage documentation, scheduling, and communication.
  • Work hours align with typical construction site schedules and may require flexibility to meet project milestones and address on-site needs.

Job Type & Location

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.

Pay And Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
