Metcon is a commercial general contractor specializing in construction management, negotiated, design-build, and select hard-bid projects. The Superintendent Level 2 leads, directs, and oversees a single project up to $15M, multiple projects with a cumulative value up to $15M simultaneously, or a single more complex larger project greater than $15M. This role coordinates all site construction activities and supervises field staff, including Foremen and subcontractors, to meet schedule and budget while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and oversee the safe and effective daily operation of single or multiple projects based on size and complexity.
- Execute project objectives to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
- Lead, monitor, and develop junior team members.
- Establish project objectives and policies, maintain client liaison, and monitor construction and financial activities.
- Ensure project goals align with Metcon’s mission, vision, and values.
- Implement and maintain a clean, safe worksite while motivating field teams to exceed productivity and budget goals.
- Collaborate with project managers on cost and productivity reporting.
- Manage contract requirements, scopes of work, and document field activities (e.g., punchlists, closeout).
- Schedule material delivery and coordinate subcontractors and field personnel to meet project timelines.
- Plan and communicate project needs (labor, equipment, materials) and maximize equipment utilization.
- Promote positive internal and external relationships with clients, the public, and company divisions.
- Review construction documents and subcontractor scopes of work to coordinate site logistics and maintain schedule progress.
- Foster positive relationships with owners and architects to encourage repeat business and references.
- Ensure site compliance with Metcon’s safety standards and rectify hazards immediately.
- Enforce the Project Safety Plan and ensure proper use of Personal Safety Equipment.
- Lead and conduct onsite safety meetings with field staff and subcontractors as needed.
Requirements
- Construction Management or Construction Technology degree preferred, or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- Three years of field supervision experience.
- High level of emotional intelligence and proactive problem-solving approach.
- Demonstrated integrity and strong conflict management skills.
- Valid Driver’s License and willingness to travel.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, Procore, and Primavera P6.
- Strong ability to read plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction technology.
