About the role
The Superintendent provides overall management and support for structured concrete projects. The Superintendent is responsible for establishing project objectives through effective planning and monitoring all construction activity in collaboration with the Assistant Project Manager (APM)/Project Manager. They are responsible for production results of the project, as well as safety on the project.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Architectural, Structural, and Civil drawings
- Schedule, coordinate, and manage daily construction activities
- Collaborate with project management staff, engineers and subcontractors
- Achieve project milestones through appropriate planning, goals, and deadlines
- Track project progress and implement measures for safe and successful completion of work
- Communicate with all stakeholders; maintain open lines of communication with the rest of the project management team to effectively address issues and prohibit problems
- Maintain flow of work through effective standards and coordination of work, people, and procurement
- Act as a site leader and resource for the project team
- Supervise staff and provide constructive feedback
- Lead across subcontractor groups
- Maintain compliance of safety, health, and quality standards
- Oversee project manpower, equipment, and materials
- Problem solve, seek appropriate support for decision making, and carry issues to positive resolution
- Develop and maintain strong, productive supplier and trade contractor relationships
Duties
- Collaborates with the Project Team to:
- Review pour sequence and schedule
- Provide production review from estimates and fine tuning project cost
- Process and analyze production data (man hours and quantities) by project specific work breakdown structure (WBS)
- Develop site plan, laydown areas, etc. based on your experience and guide project teams
- Keep open line of communication with customers regarding their satisfaction
Physical Requirements of the Job
- Ability to communicate orally in person and over devices with peers, vendors, contractors, clients, and construction workers is crucial
- Regular use of mobile devices (talking or texting) and email for communication is essential and required for everyday tasks
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and prepare, inspect, or review documents
- A pre-employment drug test is required for all personnel
- Daily job duties and responsibilities require the ability to: remain in a stationary position, move about an office and/or work site efficiently, and move between locations (office, work sites, vendors, etc) frequently
- Physical requirements include: the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs on occasion, regular exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force, occasional heavy lifting (30+ lb. / 13.6+ kg), and good manual dexterity for use of common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, copiers)
