Position Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing all field activities related to the project, coordinating with subcontractors, driving production, updating and maintaining the project schedule, ensuring safety and quality, communicating critical path activities, and interacting with union representatives, consultants, OSHA, city inspectors, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction Activities:
- Leading and managing field activities and subcontractors
- Schedule and conduct inspections as required
- Communicate with the team on site activities impacting neighborhood relations
- Update project team on critical path activities
- Operate and serve as the primary point of contact for union representatives, consultants, OSHA, city inspectors, etc.
- Quality Control and Safety:
- Enforce quality control procedures
- Ensure all work meets CORE Builders' standards and client expectations
- Follow safety protocols including OSHA standards
- Lead weekly safety walks and document observations
- Communication & Documentation:
- Communicate construction issues and progress reports to the Project Manager
- Write RFIs within Procore and include necessary supplemental information
- Provide regular updates to the project team
- Upload daily reports and photos into Procore
- Participate in construction meetings
- Use technology tools like Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Bluebeam
- Financial Management:
- Track labor hours associated with T&M work from subcontractors
- Support the Project Manager in monitoring the budget, reviewing labor and material change orders, and identifying potential cost overruns
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities
- Continuous Improvement:
- Drive process improvements and innovation in construction methods, materials, and technology
- Analyze project performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes
- Interpersonal:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Mentor Assistants and Field Engineers
- Diffuse conflicts and promote a safe jobsite
- Embody CORE Builders' vision of success
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience running work in a lead capacity
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, safety, and best practices
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop others
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project)
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and financial management
- OSHA 30 certification required (or any certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, such as STSC or CHST); CPR and First Aid/CPR/AED training completion required
- Bi-lingual abilities a plus
Working Conditions
- Requires both office and fieldwork, with regular visits to multiple project sites
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as project demands
- Travel to various job sites as needed
Anticipated Starting Pay Range (to Commensurate With Experience)
The salary range for this full-time role is $150,000 - $195,000 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client, and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. May consider a senior role depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. CORE Builders reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
