About the Role
Brasfield & Gorrie is seeking an experienced, traveling Superintendent to oversee large-scale, multi-million dollar projects in the Healthcare market sector. This role is based out of our Nashville, TN office but requires travel to projects potentially outside of Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Advocate for safety as the number one priority on the jobsite and enforce compliance with company and jobsite safety plans, policies, and all safety-related regulations.
- Partner with Estimating, Division Management, and Project Management to supervise, direct, and coordinate construction projects, including direct liaison with owners, designers, and subcontractors.
- Develop and implement production plans with budget goals in mind.
- Assist the Project Manager in preparing project status reports.
- Prepare daily reports, progress reports, compliance reports, and logs.
- Oversee the review of plans and drawings in accordance with contract documents and coordinate shop drawings.
- Procure tools and materials needed for the project to ensure availability according to the work schedule.
- Determine staffing levels and timing considering building methodology, tools, and equipment availability for each phase of the project.
- Recruit, hire, and direct onsite field personnel in accordance with HR processes and procedures.
- Prepare or oversee submission of payroll and all required HR and Payroll documentation.
- Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with assistance from HR and Legal.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers to improve construction methods and resolve issues.
- Ensure construction schedules are adhered to by managing staffing levels and material/tool procurement.
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors to monitor compliance with subcontract terms.
- Enforce company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and oversee regulatory inspections.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred; minimum of 5 years of relevant construction experience.
- Healthcare construction experience required.
- Current knowledge and ability to apply relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting information to management, owners, subcontractors, and external entities.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Proven people management, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to travel frequently by car and air to jobsites across the United States and work out of town for extended periods when required.
- Ability to traverse construction jobsites in various work environments and weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for long periods, work at heights, and perform physical activities such as lifting up to 70 pounds, climbing ladders, balancing, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold, and endure noise, fumes, and airborne particles associated with construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license.
