Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Jobsite Safety: Prioritize safety on-site and ensure potential hazards are documented and reported.
• Injury Protocol: Report any injuries immediately to the Director of Safety/Risk Management and ensure accurate accident forms are completed.
• Field Measuring: Schedule and participate in field measurements for all relevant projects. Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure information accuracy before detailing and shop release.
• Material Verification: Compare Bill of Lading quantities with shop drawings and endorse them. Provide to the Project Manager for receipt verification.
• Substrate Review: Examine substrates personally to certify compliance before installation.
• Housing Arrangement: Coordinate housing needs through the Project Manager and Construction Administrator.
• Equipment Scheduling: Schedule necessary equipment, including forklifts, man-lifts, scaffolding, large power tools, seamers, and more.
• Employee Training: Aid Foremen in training new field employees, using a hands-on approach.
• Detailing Communication: Notify detailing of any discrepancies, such as flashing, screw, or panel shortcomings. Weekly updates provided by Foremen.
• Budget Monitoring: Oversee costs related to general conditions, labor, equipment, and lodging. Alert management about potential budget overruns.
• Change Order Generation: Create Change Orders for additional work, ensuring accurate field work orders, endorsements, and submissions to Project Management.
• MSDS & Safety Plans: Ensure all MSDS and safety plans are present at each job site. Liaise with the Director of Safety/Risk Management for additional books if needed.
• Time Management: Submit/approve all time for self or respective Foremen on projects via hh2 Payroll.
• Daily Reports: Ensure daily field reports are accurately filled in the document control system, either by the Superintendent or respective Foremen.
• Shop Drawing Review: Use the most recent set of shop drawings. Inform the Project Manager/Drafter if outdated drawings are being used.
• Overtime Approval: Communicate and obtain approval from the Field Director for all overtime work before execution.
• Labor Monitoring: Supervise and report on labor productivity and crew sizes daily.

Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive experience in metal and glazing installations and construction supervision.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Proficiency in document control software and related tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Understanding of safety protocols and OSHA standards.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, and climbing on construction sites.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Visual and manual dexterity for equipment operation and report filing.

The Superintendent acts as the crucial eyes and ears of the Construction Department, ensuring optimal coordination of materials, equipment, and personnel across various projects. This role aims to enhance field efficiencies and maintain the company’s high standards in all activities. Superintendents also have expanded responsibilities over and above those of a Field Manager.
