About the role
The Superintendent - Aviation Group is a key member of Q&D Construction's Aviation Group team. This position oversees construction activities in and at airports across the United States, including new terminal buildings, support facilities, tenant improvements, equipment upgrades, vendor build-outs, and airline-specific construction activities.
Responsibilities
- Study contract documents to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
- Determine the required tools, materials, construction equipment and certain permanent equipment and times to conform to work schedules
- Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting contract documents, and coordinating various phases of construction
- Collaborate with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that there is quality workmanship which conforms to contract documents and the adherence to construction schedules
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations and Company safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance with all Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policies and procedures
- Verify that products and methods used meet or exceed project specifications
- Maintain open communication between all contractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc. support project activities and project schedule
Requirements
- Project experience $20M+
- 10+ years of experience working in the construction industry
- 5+ years of supervisory experience using similar construction methods, equipment and tools; ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Effective communication and teamwork skills and an ability to control and supervise large groups
- Aviation experience is a bonus but not required
