About the role
The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions. We are seeking superintendents to help with our scaling projects in Las Vegas.
Responsibilities
- Oversee field personnel, daily/weekly schedules, and construction operations.
- Act as the subject matter expert for tunnel and underground structures.
- Lead less experienced employees in safe productive work procedures.
- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to implement innovative solutions.
- Troubleshoot problems and supervises troubleshooting in primary secondary systems.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment and tools are in good working order.
- Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings.
- Comply with reporting procedures.
- Coordinate transportation activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Experience working in tunnels.
- OSHA 10 or greater.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of all aspects of tunnel operations.
- Working knowledge of tunnel boring machines.
- Knowledge of site layout, steel work, concrete, and form work.
- Working knowledge of mining equipment, such as excavators, front loaders.
- Working knowledge of hand tools, such as jacklegs, and air tools.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in heavy construction areas.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience as a foreman or in a supervisory capacity, ideally in a tunneling environment. (With reference)
