About the role

The Superintendent assists in managing all operational activities, personnel, customer relationships, and local and area business development. This position has supervisory responsibility to analyze working schedules, patterns, and the environment of field employees. The Superintendent also assists the Operations/Yard Manager in ensuring compliance with company, customer, and legislative policies, while fostering a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe work environment by recognizing unsafe working conditions and making appropriate corrections.
  • Ensure employees are aware of their environment, potential hazards, and comply with Stallion Safety policies and standards.
  • Ensure optimum asset utilization by managing local inventory (usage and tracking).
  • Ensure necessary asset maintenance is performed (required maintenance and ad-hoc repairs) or notify appropriate management of maintenance requirements.
  • Assist in managing all physical and electronic records, as well as proprietary Stallion information at assigned locations.
  • Assist in evaluating, selecting, and maintaining appropriate vendor relationships.
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate staffing levels and work schedules to optimize and manage work hours, particularly overtime, to ensure safety and profitability.
  • Assist in training crews on various field procedures and operations.
  • Evaluate, report, and manage the progress and evaluation of new employees.
  • May assist in managing employee time and approve physical and electronic payroll timesheets.
  • Assist in managing employee performance and take appropriate disciplinary action (up to and including termination) when required.
  • Liaise with local customer representatives to ensure Stallion provides quality customer service.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service skills and orientation.
  • Previous supervisory and/or management experience in construction environments is preferred.
  • Effective at assigning and reviewing daily work tasks of direct reports.
  • Clear and concise verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
