Duties And Responsibilities
- Oversight of 24/7 direction and success of further processing departments.
- Setting further processing department’s objectives, organizing tasks and projects for each department.
- Maintaining work processes in departments to ensure consistent compliance with product and process scheduling.
- Managing staffing levels and patterns to ensure 24/7 coverage in each department.
- Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and employing employees.
- Counseling, mentoring, and developing staff, providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Empowering supervisors to take responsibility for their jobs and goals.
- Delegating responsibility and expecting accountability and regular feedback.
- Providing effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action.
- Maintaining transparent communication through department meetings, 1:1 meetings, and other regular interpersonal communications.
- Preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
- Preparing periodic reports for upper management to track strategic goal accomplishment and company established KPI’s.
- Leading coworker training and following through on Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Reinforcing and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Making business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, justifiable, and defensible in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
- Communicating regularly with other managers, president, and other designated contacts within the organization.
- Developing and owning operational safety programs that cultivate a safety-first culture.
- Working directly with the Operations Manager on Process improvement projects.
- Developing a daily gameplan for the Production team.
- Reporting to the Production Manager on daily production yield, OEE, and designated KPI’s.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A high school diploma or GED, with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in food processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with SQF or other GFSI schemes, HACCP knowledge, and PCQI, HACCP & SQF Practitioner Certification.
- A strong understanding of food safety regulations and egg processing equipment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
