About the role
The Field Superintendent oversees day-to-day operations on-site and manages all phases of client construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, materials, equipment, scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety. This role ensures timely project completion in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. Project types include ground-up construction (concrete tilt wall, industrial, office, and medical), tenant improvement/build-out, and tenant remodels.
Working with subcontractors and internal project management, the Field Superintendent ensures adherence to project specifications, schedules, budgets, and contract standards.
Responsibilities
- Sets up project trailer, opens/secures the jobsite at the beginning and end of each day.
- Organizes project files and plans in the trailer.
- Actively participates in weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate work; prepares agendas, minutes, and two-week look-ahead schedules.
- Verifies subcontractors have signed contracts and proper certificates of insurance five days prior to starting work.
- Ensures subcontractors fully execute and comply with contracted scope of work.
- Enforces subcontractor requirements, terms, conditions, safety policies, and project specifications.
- Coordinates required inspections with local jurisdictions.
- Schedules all subcontractor activities.
- Identifies subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
- Identifies and communicates construction progress conflicts to the project team for resolution.
- Maintains a daily written log of jobsite activities.
- Collects and submits subcontractor “Toolbox Meeting Outlines” to the office weekly.
- Performs daily jobsite inspections and enforces OSHA regulations and PPE requirements.
- Represents the company professionally in project meetings and field communications.
- Completes weekly jobsite safety checklists and submits them to the general superintendent.
- Reports onsite incidents/accidents to the Director of Field Operations within 24 hours.
- Performs related duties as assigned, taking full ownership of projects.
