Superintendent
PRST is seeking an experienced Bags-On Superintendent to join a custom home contractor in Mill Valley/Marin County, CA, specializing in luxury custom home construction.
About the role
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced superintendent responsible for overseeing daily jobsite operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, maintaining schedules, reading plans, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. The role demands strong leadership to manage and run crews while remaining hands-on with daily work. The superintendent will spend part of each day performing hands-on carpentry and the remainder managing and directing subcontractors, staffing building inspections, preparing materials take-offs and orders, and meeting daily with the project manager to ensure compliance with budget and schedule.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily jobsite operations and coordinate crews and subcontractors
- Maintain construction schedules and ensure timely project completion
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
- Ensure top-tier craftsmanship, safety, and productivity on-site
- Perform hands-on carpentry work as needed
- Manage and direct subcontractors and company crew
- Staff and coordinate building inspections
- Prepare materials take-offs and place orders
- Meet daily with the project manager to review budget and schedule compliance
Requirements
- 5+ years of custom residential carpentry experience, including framing, finish, and detailed woodwork
- Proven superintendent or supervisory experience
- Strong leadership skills to train and motivate crews while working hands-on
- Excellent communication and organizational skills for coordinating with contractors and clients
- Proficiency with tools, materials, and construction methods for high-end homes
- Reliable transportation to Marin County job sites
- OSHA 10/30 certification or willingness to obtain (a plus)
Pay
This role is a temporary-to-permanent position with an hourly wage of $50–$56 for the first 6 months. After the trial period, compensation will be $120,000–$150,000 annually, pending performance.
