About the role
Nicholson Construction Company is seeking a Summary Day to day manager to oversee construction activities on various projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with Nicholson and OSHA safety regulations.
- Develops and conducts safety meetings and training as necessary.
- Implements the construction plan and adheres to the project budget.
- Hires, fires, and supervises local craft labor as required.
- Schedules and maintains equipment and orders materials.
- Performs quality control checks and inspects work.
- Mentors and supervises Field Engineers.
- Reviews and prepares on-site documentation.
- Attends and coordinates meetings with clients.
- Ensures adherence to shop drawings and specifications.
- Identifies and documents additional work not covered by contract.
- Prepares short-term schedules and goals for the project.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- OSHA 30-hour Training Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Training.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience, including time spent as operator, labor foreman, or field/project engineer.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors on larger projects.
- Experience working with state department of transportation a plus.
- Knowledge of geotechnical techniques that Nicholson performs.
- Proven ability to run a work crew.
- Knowledge of union agreements (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, Heavy Job).
- Reads and understands drawings and specifications.
- Develops actions lists and bar chart schedules.
- Basic mechanical and maintenance skills related to Nicholson equipment.
- Knowledge of geotechnical techniques that Nicholson performs.
- Capable of setting up and stressing anchors.
- Capable of setting up and performing pile load tests.
- Capable of performing all quality control checks.
- Knowledge of applicable OSHA and Nicholson safety rules.
- Capable of running a work crew.
- Knowledge of union agreements (if applicable).
