Superintendent

Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent at levels 1 and 2, based on experience and qualifications. This role is located in McAllen, TX.

About the role

Provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a particular area of discipline. Develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; understand contract documents and coordinate plans with design engineers
• Develop and manage project schedule, site logistics plan, and utilize tools and equipment; collaborate with project partner superintendents
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, and supervise project partners
• Interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss team members
• Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, handle team member training, and conduct career development discussions
• Build effective relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance
• Recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, OR 10 years trade experience
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
• Detail-oriented with ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
• Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback
• Ability to travel up to 100%

Superintendent I

• Minimum Qualifications: 5 years construction management or related experience
• Base pay range: $111,400 – $167,100

Superintendent II

• Minimum Qualifications: 8 years construction management or related experience
• Base pay range: $130,100 – $195,200 (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%)

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
