About the Role

The Superintendent works with Sales & Operations to perform site surveys and engage with customers. They assist in planning, coordinating, and directing processes for maintaining structures, facilities, or systems, and may oversee job site organization, labor and material scheduling, and implementation of customer and company-specific procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Daily customer interface, including attendance in status and scheduling meetings, addressing quality matters, and resolving concerns or issues.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information for job walks and relay details to Sales/Sales Admin for accurate quote preparation.
  • Develop and implement schedules for rigging crews in alignment with customer direction.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and workforce to meet operational goals for volume, cost, quality, safety, and schedule.
  • Participate in hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of rigging, crating, and installation crews using best management practices.
  • Train and instruct crews in best practices and procedures, with an emphasis on safety.
  • Work closely with safety personnel to coordinate safety training, investigate accidents, injuries, and equipment or property damage incidents, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborate professionally with onsite subcontractors and vendors.
  • Manage site projects by organizing all project information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • May participate in the selection of rigging and installation equipment.
  • Purchase and maintain day-to-day rigging and installation equipment and hand tools.
  • Actively participate in leadership and management meetings.
  • Build strong customer and employee relationships through excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Develop effective relationships with customers, business partners, and support staff while representing company mission, vision, and values.
  • Work with the Regional Office General Manager to manage customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and preparing reports with recommendations.
  • Assist with job walks and customer bids/estimates to ensure accurate project pricing.
  • Develop professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and industry participation.
  • Stay informed about industry and market trends.
  • Review plans and technical documents, answer project scope and timing questions, and monitor costs and project progress.
  • May assist in developing cost estimates or tentative schedules.
  • Plan, administer, and complete assigned projects, which may span multiple functional areas (facilities, operations, administration).
  • Provide work direction to project support staff.
  • Communicate directly with contractors, designers, and owners regarding project cost, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Prepare project status reports and ensure adherence to contract specifications.
  • Oversee all job site management activities for rigging, installation, and crating crews.

Requirements

  • High School diploma; continuing education in Business, Project, or Construction Management or a related degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of proven operations management experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or rigging.
  • Excellent interpersonal, management, supervisory, and project management skills.
  • Highly self-directed and motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one, with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This is a physically demanding role requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement (climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to work off the ground at varying heights and around moving machinery or parts.
  • Willingness to work in non-temperature-controlled environments and/or outdoors in all weather conditions, including uneven terrain.
