Superintendent

About the Role

The superintendent manages all project planning and proactively monitors and verifies project execution, including safety, schedule, cost, and quality. They are also responsible for identifying and resolving conflicts and ensuring efficient internal and external communication.

Responsibilities

• Monitors productivity, efficiency, and profitability for all current projects, including the correct allocation of resources.
• Acts as a resource by mentoring, training, and developing personnel in all aspects of their careers.
• Works with the project manager to develop a construction plan, including schedule, equipment, and buyout.
• Ensures all required material, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
• Oversees the total jobsite construction effort to ensure the project is constructed following design, budget, and schedule.
• Supervises subcontractors, foremen, and craftsmen to ensure projects are properly executed.
• Locates materials, formwork, equipment, and tools onsite and offsite, directing others to utilize items to meet production and quality goals.
• Trains and manages personnel to properly maintain all equipment and tools for safe and reliable working conditions.
• Properly lays out all work to be performed based on drawings and given survey points.
• Manages all project safety, including fall protection, barricades, and other safety systems.
• Maintains as-built drawings, incorporating all RFI's, supplemental drawings, and updates.
• Manages field crews using leadership skills and time clock tools (e.g., ExakTime).
• Performs daily detailed and professional reports using the Construction and Maintenance Log Book (Green Books).
• Submits a 2-week schedule look-ahead to the general superintendent weekly.
• Acts as the main liaison with clients' on-site field supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Management, or ten years of experience in concrete construction, along with five years in a leadership capacity.
• Excellent communication abilities, including writing, speaking, and active listening.
• Knowledge of construction budgeting best practices.
• Good planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies.
• Understanding of construction equipment, safe operating practices, and maintenance signs.
• In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations.
• Great problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective leadership abilities, including motivation, goal setting, and conflict management.
• Organizational skills, including time management, delegation, prioritization, and multitasking.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job locations.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Authorization to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
