Superintendent
Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, other contractors, etc.
Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, and may provide day-to-day direction of onsite administrative staff in accounting, purchasing, etc.).
Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors and subcontractors as required by the contract.
May authorize and/or approve all project personnel transactions, purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.
Provide technical assistance, i.e., interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment, etc., as required.
Assist project management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, standards, etc.
Ensure all onsite personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, environmental compliance, etc. Document all violations, notify project management, recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
Perform additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction.
Manage equipment utilization.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Construction Management/Civil Engineering degree preferred, but not required
Minimum 8 years in structure construction management and/or craft supervision experience in similar facility construction
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of structure construction (technology, equipment, methods); craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations; engineering, cost control schedules and safety required
Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills essential
Ability to utilize Microsoft Office
Pre-Employment Requirements
Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Physical Requirements
Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
Absolutely necessary to be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).

About the Role
The pay range for this position is $175,000.00 - $238,000.00 annually. The pay range for this position is for the project assignment at Port of Los Angeles Berths 302-305.
