Superintendent
Job Title
The Township Superintendent position is available.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage daily township operations in accordance with Township Board policies and Michigan law.
- Serve as the primary advisor to the Township Board on administrative, financial, and operational matters.
- Supervise and evaluate department heads and administrative staff.
- Prepare and administer the annual budget; monitor revenues and expenditures; ensure sound fiscal management.
- Aid with labor relations, collective bargaining, and contract administration in coordination with HR Manager and legal counsel.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations affecting township operations.
- Represent the Township in intergovernmental matters and community engagements.
- Oversee contracts, capital projects, and major initiatives approved by the Board.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal administration, preferably in a supervisory capacity. A Master’s degree may be preferred.
Special Requirements
Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with budgeting and financial management software is required.
