Superintendent

About the role

The Superintendent oversees and coordinates all activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Key responsibilities include managing a team, creating cost estimates, collaborating with clients and subcontractors, implementing management techniques, and preventing scope creep.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of workers, including work schedules, project progress, and resource allocation
• Creates cost estimates for labor, supplies, materials and other project costs
• Collaborates with clients, Project Managers, other construction management to determine budget and timeline
• Coordinates materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers
• Creates schedules for workers and subcontractors
• Hires additional subcontractors and assigns work accordingly
• Maintains a daily log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary
• Makes changes in the operation as necessary to best meet construction deadlines
• Implements management techniques that are cost-effective and efficient
• Collaborates with clients, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors and staff on site and others
• Prevents scope “creep”

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant construction-related discipline, such as construction management or engineering
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction management. Superintendent experience highly preferred
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable MVR
• Possess an OSHA-30 certification and a thorough knowledge of OSHA safety requirements
• Strong project management skills with knowledge of construction budgeting “best-in-industry” practices
• Collaboration skills and the ability to maintain relationships with clients and crews
• Understanding of construction equipment, including safe operating practices and maintenance
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and quality management skills and the ability to problem solve, multitask, prioritize and work independently
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Able to travel frequently and support long term assignments
• Strong planning skills, including design execution, resource allocation, and contingencies
• Effective leadership abilities, able to motivate team, set goals and resolve conflicts
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary

Working Conditions

• Location: Farmington, NM. Subsequent projects may be nationally based.
• Travel: Expected to travel to project locations, sometimes nationally.
• Construction site environment: Physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. May be exposed to high noise levels.
