Superintendent, Area Substation
Safety
Engages safety organization and partners to transform field safety efforts. Ensure a safe work environment and safety culture exists for all assigned employees. Actively and progressively require safe work behaviors and actions from all assigned employees.
Supervision
Supervises a staff of substation mechanics, relay mechanics, utility foremen and contractors to maintain substation operations within geographic area of responsibility.
Matrix Relationships
Requires strong matrix working relationships with Customer Service Managers, Engineering Supervisor, and Transmission and Distribution Leadership.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership, development, and oversight in the execution of the substation asset management capital and maintenance portfolio.
- Maintains the Work Management Process.
- Develops, supervises, and directs the annual substation preventative, diagnostic, and corrective maintenance program.
- Maintains monitoring of weather conditions and outages and directs and manages restoration workers for minor storm events during both regular and after hours.
- Coordinates the assembling of out-of-town storm response teams and Local Storm Leadership during a black event.
- Provides grid leadership for Risk Analysis and elimination/mitigation efforts.
- Understands and mitigates risks posed by execution of grid maintenance and capital projects.
- Oversees, supports, and directs employees to adhere to committed O&M and SERC work plans.

Minimum Requirements
- Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
- 6-8 years related work experience with 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of Substation Work Management System, Automated Outage Request System, and Power plant applications.
- Thorough knowledge of substation maintenance and construction practices.
- Working knowledge of safe work procedures, Entergy Safety Manual, OSHA, and DOT regulations applicable to position.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in transmission, substation, construction, or electrical repair area.
- Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong capabilities to work with computers and related technology.
- Understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and relay schemes.
- Ability to work irregular hours, overtime, and out of town assignments.
- Capable of working multiple tasks simultaneously with adherence to deadlines.
- Demonstrated leader in working safely and identifying and correcting unsafe work conditions and practices.
