This position is full-time, exempt, and reports to the Director of Transportation. Occasional travel and night work may be required.

About the Role

Directs, plans, organizes, and administers daily operations of the Nampa Municipal Airport. The Airport Superintendent represents the City in airport matters and the airport in City matters, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Airport Commission and the aviating public.

Pay

$34.17 - $43.55/hour (DOE)

Schedule

Generally Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week). Special events and occasional night work required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements ongoing operational goals and policies for the airport, including evaluating, analyzing, and documenting results and preparing reports.
  • Develops and implements the annual budget, including calculating costs, authorizing approved expenditures, and documenting results.
  • Forecasts airport revenues and maintains rental and land lease fee structures.
  • Maintains positive relationships between the City and airport tenants, guests, and neighboring property owners.
  • Provides a positive City presence at the Nampa Municipal Airport and in airport-related activities.
  • Coordinates Federal and State grant processing.
  • Manages capital improvement projects, including describing projects, issuing specifications, analyzing bids, selecting contractors, monitoring construction projects, and approving contractor payments.
  • Manages and performs general maintenance, including repairs, hiring contractors, authorizing projects, and approving expenditures.
  • Manages leases and rentals, including waiting lists, issuing invoices, receiving payments, and accounting for payments.
  • Ensures public and operational safety and security at the airport, coordinating with city police and fire.
  • Plans, supervises, and evaluates the work of departmental personnel, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions to stay current on industry practices and developments.
  • Attends and hosts monthly Airport Commission meetings, including report outs.
  • Participates in aviation organizations as appropriate.
  • Keeps Public Works Directors, Airport Commission, and others informed of work progress and potential issues.
  • Responds to citizen questions and comments courteously and in a timely manner.
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly with other city divisions.
  • Maintains a respectful and effective work environment, adapting to changes in business practices.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) in Aviation Management or related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in Aviation Management or equivalent combination of experience and training.
