About the Role
The Superintendent 2 is responsible for field operations on assigned project(s) to achieve safe, timely, and profitable completion. This position requires strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills.
Responsibilities
- All responsibilities expected of the Superintendent 1
- Implementation of Operation Zero and all Manhattan safety policies
- Participates and executes roles to help create an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring of others
- Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force
- Review and approve Trade Contractor Pay Applications and material invoices with Project Manager
- Develop and maintain site logistics plan, in coordination with Project Manager
- Manage quality program
- Coordinate site testing and inspection reports
- Monitor costs, including labor time and material
- Manage self-perform features of work
- Manage the CPM schedule and look-ahead schedules
- Develop, coordinate, and execute Safety, Hazcom, SWPPP, QA/QC plans, etc.
- Attend and lead portions of project meetings (preconstruction, preinstallation, subcontractor, owner, and safety) in coordination with the Project Manager
- Create daily reports and report quantities
- Assist with Preconstruction/Estimating phase of project
- Mobilize the site and set up utilities
- Ensure necessary permits are secured and inspections occur
- Review and verify RFIs
- Review and approve submittals for processing
- Conduct themselves in accordance with Manhattan’s Guiding Principles and exhibit attributes matching the Way We Work

Skills & Qualifications

- Ability to review and understand submittals and shop drawings
- Proficiency in writing and processing RFIs, document revisions, and recognizing changes of scope and need for pricing
- Able to effectively lead teams through projects of some complexity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent (may substitute education with related experience on a one-to-one basis)
- 8 years of industry experience
- Experience in leadership on at least 3-4 projects or running several complex smaller projects (determined by regional operations)
Working Conditions
- Adaptable to all types of weather conditions
- Must traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
- Ability to stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day
- Ability to repeat the same movements
- Effective communication for meetings, video conferences, and phone calls
- Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence
- Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time
- Occasional travel may be required, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver’s License)
- Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
